I’m Daily Vlogging!

So I have been thinking about this for a very long time and so much has equated to it being delayed for many months  but I am excited to announce I have decided to take the plunge into YouTube! I spend a good hour or so a day watching YouTube Videos and I adore doing it. So it only feels natural to start creating my own content.

My Favourite Videos to watch are home based ones, I love to be nosy into seeing what people are eating and love any video hat includes a spring clean, my life is far from exciting and I never visit anywhere amazing but I love my little life and I really hope you enjoy my Vlogs.

Here is the Link to my very first Vlog! Be kind haha,  I’m learning but I’m getting better I promise.

Custard Cream Cake!

Today me and Liam decided we would spend our afternoon baking. Baking is something we both love to do together. We have always loved baking together and during our 5 and a half years together we have baked and eaten a lot of cakes! Today we felt like trying to bake something new. After a little bit of googling and pinteresting recipes we came across the lovely Jane from Her website is filled with hundreds of amazing cakes to bake and try. Her website is well worth a visit!

You can follow my Pinterest here

We loved the look of so many cakes but settled on making her Custard Cream Cupcakes. How delish!

You can find the exact recipe we followed here…

All the ingredients were easy to find and we had most of them sitting in our cupboards. The recipe was also so easy to follow, if we can do it anyone can!

As tradition with baking me and Liam both had a little taste of the cake batter and it tasted exactly like a custard cream! It tasted amazing and we could not wait to try them when cooked.

We gave the cakes an extra 5 minuets in the oven than Jane recommends and the cakes came out perfectly golden brown on top. The had a lovely rise and looked a perfect shape for decorating. After cooling we made up the butter cream. We added to much butter to this and it ended up a little softer than we would of liked, if we had more icing sugar this could of been easily fixed but not to worry it still tasted glorious! Jane decorated hers beautifully, us on the other hand just chucked the icing on and placed half a custard cream biscuit on the top. (our icing was not thick enough to hold a whole one)

Taste Test

At the end of the day this is the most important part of baking. I had high hopes for the overall taste of the cake as along the way it tasted incredible! Unfortunately the cake its self felt rather dense and the cooked cake had lost a fair bit of the custard cream flavouring.,However the icing tasted amazing I could eat bowls of that stuff and of course the custard cream on top was as yummy as always. Overall I would give these cakes a good 7/10 and Liam gave them a solid 8.5/10

If you have any recipes you think I should try, let me know! I am all for eating some more cakes haha!

Keeping Healthy

My Weight Journey And Primark Haul

And Breathe…This is by far one of the Hardest posts to write about for a number of reasons. This post I have had planned for sometime however never felt confident enough to do so. In all honesty I still do not feel to confident about the idea but I need to start stretching my self so here I am sharing with you my Fitness and weight loss journey.

It all started back in April 2017, by this point my mental health was really struggling (you can read all about that here) and during a routine doctors appointment I was told I was obese and that had to change. I knew I had gained a lot of weight from being in such a  low mood meaning that I entered into horrid comfort eating cycle resulting in a Huge weight gain. At my heaviest I weighed 11 Stone 6 pounds I had to change. I had looked into Weight Watchers and loved the idea and loved the results I saw others receiving. I joined the “Online Only plan” and it worked a treats! In 4 months I had lost nearly two stone and I was on cloud 9! I had dropped 2 dress sizes and people started to compliment how good I looked. I felt amazing and my mental health and skin dramatically improved. I have also written a post about my skin story you can find that here too.

I reached a healthy 9 stone 9 and I swore I would never put the weight on again. However two holidays later, a new job in a food shop and moving house has resulted in a weight gain. I am now back up to 10 Stone 10 pounds  and I am so disappointed in myself. But from today that stops! I have treated myself to some lovely new workout clothes and have started to calorie count. Weight Watchers was amazing however I now feel like it wasn’t a lifestyle change and that is exactly what I need.

These Pictures were taken exactly a year apart. It shows me at my heaviest and lightest. I also happen to be wearing the exact same outfit in both pictures and I still cant believe the difference.

I am so ready to Re-start my weight loss journey again but first I needed some new work out clothes so I headed to Primark and filled a basket with lots of new items that have definitely motivated me to move more and eat less! I am sharing the pictures below for two main reasons;

A- To show my new workout clothes and what they look like on me

B- To document what my body looked like at the beginning of my weight loss journey, I suppose we could call these my “Before” pictures.

IMG_0163.JPGThese trainers were an absolute bargain. I paid just £12 for them and they are super comfy. I do however wish I brought a smaller size as they have come up rather big. I adore the combination of pink and grey at the moment so I instantly fell in love with them.

Outfit One

IMG_0138IMG_0156I never thought I would like this colour as much as I do. These turquoise patterned leggings are lovely though. I brought these leggings for £8 in size medium so they are a little tight however I figured when the weight starts coming off I still would like them to fit. I also brought the matching sports bra for £5 and it feels a really strong material and feels like it will give me enough support. To finish this set I saw that there was a matching Jacket. I also picked this up in a slightly small size so it will last me. I paid £10 for this jacket and its worth so much more than that!

Outfit Two

IMG_0125I love the combination of grey and pink so when I saw this top I instantly picked it up! I picked this up in a medium and once again it is a little tight IMG_0126but wont be for long! I love the fact this this top actually comes in two parts so can be worn as two separates which I love because I am not entirely sure I love the grey crop top on me. This set was just £7 so a real bargain! To match this I picked up these grey leggings for £8. These fit me lovely and are super comfy too. I am a happy bunny.

IMG_0152When I saw that this top was just £3.50 I picked it up. This top is a super tight fit. this is something I usually always avoid however I brought his piece to help motivate me further. I also picked this up in a size medium. I love that I can match this top to any of the leggings I picked up to and for just £3.50 I thought it was a such a good price not to be ignored.

I hope you have found this post somewhat interesting to read and if you have any tips or tricks for loosing weight then please let me know! I will be updating you all on twitter about how I am getting on with this so make sure your following me on there  @LifeWithFernie.

A Christmas Poem

Today I have felt ever so poorly, I came home from guide camp then I felt awful. I was then sent home from work, so today’s post will have to be a little one I’m afraid. Unfortunately I don’t have time to write what I ordiginally have planned so today I thought I would share with you this lovely poem I found and now love….

Our Christmas tree, stood straight and tall, We had it standing in the hall, With decorations, sparkling bright, And baubles, glittering in the light, Rich tinsel laced around branches wide, With bells and bows, that could be spied Hiding among the dark green pine, In silver and gold, boldly they did shine, And at the very top, such a wondrous sight, A star was placed there, which gave delight. The whole effect so pleasured the eye. We planted it outside, now it’s 18 feet high. This year it will once again, be a thrill, Hung with big coloured lights, in the crisp winter chill

This poem was written by the poet Ernestine Northover on the 25th March 1943. I love it and it really makes me feel festive and cosy!

Hope you like this poem as much as I do, sorry it’s only a little post but fingers crossed I’ll be back to normal tomorow!

My Top Festive Foods And Drinks

It’s blogmas day 11! We are nearly at the half way mark! Are you enjoying your December so far? I would love to hear about what your all getting up to!

For me one of my favourite things about Christmas is the food and drink! Me and Liam have a Christmas hamper full of goodies that we keep in the living room, so we can munch as much as we like during this merry season! This changes all the time as we are constantly re filling it with new yummy foods and drinks to replace the ones we have eaten!

Today I am going to be sharing with you my favourite treats for this time of year, what are your favourites? What shall I add to our hamper?

As you may or may not know, I absolutely love gingerbread! And this time of year is full off gingerbread! While I absolutely love making my super easy gingerbread, you can find the recipe here. And these are definitely in my top foods. Mr Kipling released a few years ago gingerbread whirls. These are exactly like their traditional Viennese whirls but in my opinion a million times more tasty! They are gingerbread flavoured! Get in my belly!
In our family we have a tradition of always giving each other a Cadbury selection box for Christmas. For me Christmas would not be Christmas without selection boxes. I love them and it’s something I will continue to love.

If you can’t have chocolate for Breakfast on Christmas Morning … when can you?

Sticking with a chocolate theme. I bloody love a Terry’s chocolate orange. I know you can buy these all year round for me it’s a Christmas treat! I love that you have to smash it open and all the little segments break apart. I always think they smell amazing aswell! So festive and scrumpy!

Got chocolates are 100% my favourite Christmas drink! I love filling my mug with squirts creams, marshmallows and anything else I can find to top it all off, however to make it super festive I have been sprinkling a little bit of cinnamon on the top. This is a lovely touch and really makes it feel even more Christmassy.

I love the Vimto drink you can buy, and at Christmas time they always release a winter spice flavoured Vimto. It is recommended you serve this hot and it’s the perfect way to warm up on a cold December day. I love this drink and will be super sad when they stop selling it again. Best I start stocking up on it!

Finally I thought I would end this post on an alcoholic drink, as I can’t lie these are usually my go to Christmas celebration drink. I love drinking port and lemonade during the month of December. It’s not my usual go to drink however there is something really special and Christmassy about it. It tastes just like Ribenna and Wally is super yummy. I love this drink and I will defiantly be drinking lots of it the closer we get to Christmas!

And that the end of blogmas day 11! December is going super fast for me this year!

Hope you are all well and having a lovely festive season!

Holiday Diary 2017 Part One

I have just come home from an AMAZING Monday to Friday winter break with Liam, I feel as if I need a holiday to recover from the holiday I’m shattered haha! We decided we wanted a really relaxing, chilled out holiday that involved doing very little and eating ALOT of food, and that’s exactly what we did. I am going to share with you what we got up to in this two part holiday diary series. Ill be posting part two tomorrow at 11 am so make sure you keep an eye out for that! Hope you enjoy having a little nose at what we got up to, I love posts like these so if you have any let me know!

Day One

Today we woke up super early, we had so much to do! a quick breakfast was followed  20171113_175838by cleaning, packing and family visiting us. It was a busy20171113_114150 morning but we got everything we wanted to get done finished so we felt completely ready to relax while on holiday! When we arrived at the train station we had ages to wait so we stopped for a hot chocolate to pass the time and most importantly warm up, it was freezing. two trains later and a short bus journey we had arrived. Our home for the week, Oak Cabin 2 if you want to have a nose at what this looked like and what it included I have a whole post about it here. The cabin was lovely and even had our own hot tub. We decided to have our dinner at the onsite restaurant it was lovely although a little on the pricey side. The food was near to perfection and was served beautifully.IMG_3531 After our meal we had a quick dip in our hot tub then straight to sleep. It was a busy day travelling but we was here. Our winter holiday had begun.20171113_160532.jpg

Day Two

Today we decided to wake up late and have a lazy morning, lounging around in our pjs not really doing much, it was lovely and well needed. After a quick pasta lunch we got 20171114_094321dressed at went for a walk around the site. the site was beautiful and looked just like a typical autumn scene. we IMG_3540walked around the woods and the lake and took some pictures along the way for my up coming holiday look book.

On our travels we picked up a form to fill in for the gym and swimming pool we hurried back to the cabin for a cup of tea to warm up and to fill the forms in. at around 2.30pm we got ready to go the gym. I felt amazing after a workout and its inspired me to keep to my Novemeber goals. Evening Came around and we was starving, so off we went for yet another delicious meal in the restaurant. Lasagne for me and cod and chips for Liam.IMG_3563 20171114_183938

Day Three

Today was our busy, going out day. We woke up early had breakfast and of we went to catch the bus into my favourite town, Cromer.IMG_3565.JPG 20171115_134712It was a reasonably warm day although a little cloudy and extremely misty and foggy, all the same it was beautiful, I was happy and content. I didn’t want the day to end. Walking hand in hand with Liam in and out of all the little boutiques and little gift shops I was in heaven. If you love this sort of thing you must go to Cromer its full of little shops like this. 20171115_122730.jpgAt around 11.30 we was starving so we headed to Cromer No 1 fish and chip shop. With views of the sea and pier, great food and amazing company I was on cloud 9. After lunch we walked along the pier. By now it was very misty and foggy and you could hardly see the sea but nonetheless a walk along the pier was lovely.20171115_132641.jpg We also visited the lifeboat museum that’s at the end of the pier, this was surprisingly interesting.(lifeboats are not really my thing) 20171115_133219.jpgMy visit in Cromer was perfect. Before we headed back to the cabin we popped into Iceland, we brought everything for a buffet, yep a buffet for just two people. Our evening was concluded by stuffing our faces from the buffet and watching a Christmas movie. PERFECT!

So that’s part one of our winter holiday diary, make sure you have a read of part two to see what we got up to next.

Oak Cabin 2– Holiday Accomodation

You may or may not be aware that me and Liam have been away for a lovely winter holiday break in the heart of Norfolk England. We have loved our stay in our little Cabin and I wanted to share it with all of you. For the Next week I will be uploading lots of holiday related posts including a holiday look book and lots of posts about what we have been up to. I wanted to document it all for my own memories too and I love sharing my life with you so it’s a win for everyone (I hope)

The Park:

The park we have stayed in was perfect as it was very tranquil and quite. It had breath taking views perfect for a winter break away. The site itself was set in the middle of nowhere as neither me or Liam drive it was vital that we had buses and with a bus that ran every half an hour we could fairly easily get into the beautiful town Cromer however a car would be recommended. The site was set in a large woodland areas hence the name “woodlands” you could stay in either caravans, cabins or lodges by the looks of things all the accompanies looked amazing however as we only stayed in a cabin we can only really discuss that.

The actual park didn’t really have much to do. However that what me and Liam really wanted, They have an onside restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was near to perfection. although a little pricey it was defiantly worth the price. Next to the restaurant was a tiny arcade room this definitely passed half and hour is so after our evening meal. Me and Liam loved using the gym while we was away. And I used the swimming pool both of these facilities were kept to a high, clean standard. In addition to these there was plenty of woodland walks to keep you occupied. overall me and Liam love the park and I’m sure we will return again one day.

The Cabin:

We stayed in Oak Cabin 2. We was blown away with how lovely this Cabin was. It was better than we could ever imagine and it really made the holiday even more amazing! The Cabin was lovely and spacious and perfectly clean. The Cabin was kept really REALLY warm which sounds lovely however me and Liam could not stop sweating haha! we had to turn down the heating by a lot. However I think it’s always better to be hot than cold. When we arrived we was also supplied a small welcome pack that included; Milk, bread, jam, tea, coffee and sugar this was a lovely little touch. The Cabin also included a private and secluded hot tub which was used ALOT during the break. This was an added extra which was very much appreciated.

The Cabin included…

Double bedroom with ensuite bathroo

Twin bedroom

Large family bathroom

Reasonable sized living area with Free view TV and DVD player

Large dinning room table with chairs

Fully equipped Kitchen

Hot Tub

I hope you have enjoyed reading and looking through the pictures of our Cabin that we have stayed in. I would love to hear about anywhere you have stayed, send me link of amazing hotels and unique places to spend a holiday would love to see what about! As always feel free to get in touch ❤️

My Happiness Guide

Many people always ask me how I continue to be so happy and bubbly all the time, I really feel like happiness is the key to a fulfilling life and that is why I go above and beyond everyday to ensure I am doing everything possible for me to remain my happy and bubbly self.

“Happiness is not out there it lives in you”

❤ Here is my happiness guide ❤

Surround Your Self In Happy

happy 4I always find I am my most happy when I am surrounded by happiness, this is why I try very hard (although not always possible) to surround my self in people and objects that make me feel happy as often as I can. I make sure the people I am around the majority of the time feel my life with happiness and if they are not making me feel happy look for happiness elsewhere. I often find that if I am unable to find happiness with other people I will take my self somewhere where I feel calm. This is usually my bedroom here are my little trinkets and my laptop and my bed all these things make me feel extremely calm and happy.

Do More Of What Makes You Happy

Personally there is nothing that makes me feel happier than retail therapy and taking time to pamper myself. these are my go to pick me ups for those days I need a happiness boost. Finding a handful of things that you know will put a smile on your face can work wonders for your mood. I enjoy planning time out of my busy days for these activities, I look forward to them all day or week or in some cases longer planning what shops to look at or what new products to try. The more planning I make for these activities the more happiness I find when I am actually doing them. I keep this feeling with me for as long as possible trying not think about anything other than the present. By doing something that makes you happy more often you are guaranteed to start feeling happy for longer.

happy 1

Find Happiness In Everything

I think this is the most important of them all. I feel this is something I need to remind my self at least a couple of times a day, There is always something to be happy about, sometimes it may only feel like a tiny thing you can think off but sometimes that is enough to get you buy till something else comes along that has a more obvious happy outcome. for example sometimes when I am at work I can not wait to get home and into happy 2my bed, when I feel like this is find it very hard to find the positive and the happy about being at work, I try so hard in these situations to think of all the lovely things I have been able to do with the money I have earned working, I think of the things that I want to buy on my next shopping trip and then I think of all the good times I have had at work. If anyone has ever watched the film Polyanna you will know exactly how good this happiness game can be, and if you have not watched the film Polyanna you NEED to right now haha!

I hope I help someone reading this to live a more happy life, that would mean so much to me! If you have any other tips on how to remain happy please leave them below I would love to hear them!
