A Summer Ready Home

With Spring in full swing and summer getting closer, I thought I would talk about everything I am doing to get my home summer ready. I love giving everything a good deep clean and organise, so a change in season is the perfect excuse to do it once again! I feel so much more relaxed knowing my home is as clean and tidy as physically possible to begin the summer. Summer can be so busy with holidays and visitors that sometimes the housework and keeping on top of the organisation can be forgotten, Summers are meant for having fun with family and friends so relax and dont let the housework hold you back!

Below is my easy to follow guide to create a summer ready home!

Where to Start?

I aim to go through a room a day, Some rooms are larger than others and will need more sorting so allow myself to do these rooms on  those days where I have very little planned. I tackle a room a day following this basic routine;

  1. Tidy
  2. Clean
  3. De-clutter

I find using this easy to follow step by step method is the easiest way to get your home summer ready. Its simple and not to overwhelming. I love following it!

What To Use?

IMG_4671If your anything like me, knowing exactly what products I need to clean and how to do it can be overwhelming. there are so many products available and knowing which to choose can be scary. I personally love walking into a freshly cleaned room and it to smell amazing. That why I have found myself with a rather large collection off Zoflora. I adore this stuff! basically if you dont already know, zoflora is  concentrated disinfectant that can be used in hundreds of different ways! and they come is loads of IMG_4675amazing smells. Just hop on to pinterest and search uses for zoflora and you will be amazed!

I love using it to clean my whole kitchen pretty much floor to ceiling, when I am finished the room smells incredible for hours, For this clean I decided to use these two spring scented zoflora, I love the “hello Spring” and I am sure I am on at least my 3rd bottle of the stuff.IMG_4683[1]

TOP TIP! Keep your old reed diffusers and re-fill them with neat Zoflora they work amazingly well as a read diffuser and they are so much cheaper too!

Oven Cleaning

Cleaning the oven can be a messy and smelly business. that can IMG_4681take ages and can leave you feeling all achy. this certainly does not sound fun! I discovered this Oven Pride kit and I love it. Its a deep cleaning kit that has everything you need to get your oven sparkly clean! I follow all the instructions on the box to the letter, however I leave it for around 30 hours to do its stuff, rather than the recommended overnight suggestion. This is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning my oven and I recommend it to everyone!

What Next?

Re Organise-

After everything has been cleaned a de cluttered, I like to spend some more time re organising. this makes the whole home feel almost brand new and refreshed. I like to move furniture around in the living room and bedrooms and organise my kitchen cupboards in different ways. I enjoy finding new photos and ornaments to spice up shelving units and windows. I love doing this part, I find it so relaxing.

TOP TIP! Search your charity shops for new home ware, this can really change up the look of your home without breaking the bank.

Get Green-

IMG_4670[1]I enjoy doing this all year round, however with warmer weather approaching I feel this is even more important. I find filling a home with fresh flowers and plants, helps create a bright and happy area to live in. With an English summer being far from tropical, I find injecting colour in every room in the form of brightly coloured flowers creates a happy and sunny atmosphere and they also look beautiful so what is there not to love! If your budget is tight I really recommend popping to your local Aldi Or Lidl their flowers are super cheap and last for ages. I especially love their Roses for around the £2 mark!

TOP TIP! I personally find roses always look too busy with all their leaves on, so I take them all off, I love the look this gives, even in a old pasta sauce jar! Anything can be a vase.

Have a Tick-list day-

This has got got be something that I find the hardest to try and do. I allow myself a whole day to sit and work through my to do list. Not only will you benefit from having all those jobs ticked of your list. you will also feel amazing to. Working through and crossing off items from a to do list is so important in order to spring clean the mind. A clean and tidy home will be no good if your brain is all busy with endless jobs to do.

TOP TIP! Before starting, spend sometime (preferably with a cuppa tea) to write absolutely everything you have to do down, maybe categorise them in order of priority or area of life. This will give you an easy to guide to follow for the day and you wont feel so overwhelmed.

A Perfect start!

by now you have probably spent what feels like forever cleaning and organising. Your home looks amazing and your brain is free from things to do. Its now time to relax and enjoy your home and start making those all important plans for summer. I like to throw myself a pamper night to celebrate my hard work, this may sound silly but it really does but the cheery on top of the cake! I like to run a bubble bath and use all my “special” products and maybe even buy some brand new ones to try. I will allocate almost a whole afternoon and evening for eating yummy food,  binge watching TV and pampering myself to the max. A perfect start to the best summer ever!

If you have anymore tips for getting your home summer ready let me know in the comments!

How To Fall Asleep

I Designed A Canvas!

If you dont already know, back in October I moved into my first flat with my boyfriend Liam. From then, there was our birthdays, we went on holiday and then we had Christmas, so getting the flat to how we really wanted it had to go on hold till the new year.

So when Photowall contacted me to say they wanted to gift me a canvas, I was over the moon and super excited to start getting the flat filled with special pieces of art. When PhotoWall reached out I  was organising my desk in the bedroom so I knew that I wanted a canvas to fill a little bit of wall space.

The colour scheme of the bedroom is black, grey and pink so I knew that the canvas had to match that. PhotoWall have so many amazing choices of canvas I was spoilt for choice, there was just so many too choose from! I saw that they had a few typography canvases and I loved them. The only problem was that none of the quotes appealed to me personally and the colours wouldn’t match the room. I was back to the drawing board with a lot to think about.

While exploring there website further I noticed that there was a “use your own image” section. After exploring and realising that this meant an image I wanted could be made into a canvas of any size I was excited! I headed straight to Google to find a quote or saying that I could turn into some really personal and relevant typography.

canvas image.pngWhen I discovered the quote I wanted to use, I went onto canva and designed my image and then I uploaded it onto Photowall. The process was really simple and easy to complete, and took less than 5 minuets. Photowall even recommended canvas sizes based on the quality of the image I provided.

Delivery was surprisingly quick and it was all packaged super securely. I was very impressed! putting it together was a little fiddly but Liam helped me and we did it together.

You can read more about the process of building a Canvas from photowall on @Hellobexa Blog Post here

IMG_0105.JPGI am so pleased with how my Canvas came out and it looks so good on the wall in the bedroom, I have had so many people look at the canvas and compliment it so that makes me even more happy!

I am so really pleased to also include this discount code that gives you a huge 20% off your purchase, this is valid until March 20th 2018 so make sure you order yours quick!

If your looking for some amazing quality canvases and other wall art make sure you have a look at PhotoWall, I will definitely  be placing more orders in the future!

Organising My Fridge

I am sure to some of you this will be a very dull and completely boring however if any of you are like me with a secrete love of all things housework, organising and cleaning this will be an absolute treat for you!

The other day I came home from our weekly shop and started to put everything away (this is something I find super satisfying!) When I got round to putting all the chilled bits and bobs away I realised how messy my fridge was. Something had to change!

I started of by taking a steps back and looking at the food I already had in there. Some of these things I am ashamed to say were way past their use by dates and needed to be thrown out. this cleared so much room the new and fresh foods.

IMG_0054Next up I started by emptying the whole fridge and giving everything a really good wipe down with my Zolfora. If you have not heard of Zoflora Google it now its mazing and I have a serious love for it! I use an old spray bottle filled with a couple of caps of Zolfora and filled with water. This is the perfect disinfectant spray that also made my fridge smell AMAZING!

When Everything was clean it was time to re organise the shelves and the inside of the IMG_0058door. I put all our fruits and vegetables in the tray at the bottom, Meats above that then dairy’s above the meats. I decided to keep the top shelf clear so we can easily store our lunch boxes and water bottles.

IMG_0061Next I looked at the door and realised I had no need for three sections. I kept all drinks in the bottom section and sauces on the one above it. I did not want to waste the empty container that now was not needed so I decided I would use it to keep our eggs in. I played around with different positions of this and lost two eggs along the way haha! but I finally settled on the container being placed at the back of the fridge.

I am in love with how organised and fresh smelling my fridge now is, if you have any tips or secrets for keeping your fridge organised and clean let me know! I love hearing and trying out new ideas.

A Christmas Poem

Today I have felt ever so poorly, I came home from guide camp then I felt awful. I was then sent home from work, so today’s post will have to be a little one I’m afraid. Unfortunately I don’t have time to write what I ordiginally have planned so today I thought I would share with you this lovely poem I found and now love….

Our Christmas tree, stood straight and tall, We had it standing in the hall, With decorations, sparkling bright, And baubles, glittering in the light, Rich tinsel laced around branches wide, With bells and bows, that could be spied Hiding among the dark green pine, In silver and gold, boldly they did shine, And at the very top, such a wondrous sight, A star was placed there, which gave delight. The whole effect so pleasured the eye. We planted it outside, now it’s 18 feet high. This year it will once again, be a thrill, Hung with big coloured lights, in the crisp winter chill

This poem was written by the poet Ernestine Northover on the 25th March 1943. I love it and it really makes me feel festive and cosy!

Hope you like this poem as much as I do, sorry it’s only a little post but fingers crossed I’ll be back to normal tomorow!

Christmas Party Games

Today is day 14 of blogmas, and Christmas parties and events are in full swing. I thought today we could talk about party games and activities you could do, during this festive season. This time of year its all about family and friends so why do you all get together and have a little go of one of these games, I have found, played and loved!

 Fill the Christmas stocking

Divide into teams and have the participants race to fill their team’s hanging stocking with a spoonful of wrapped candy.

 Christmas gift wrap relay

Set up assembly lines of gifts, boxes, scissors, wrapping paper, ribbon, and tape for each team. Either have each player wrap one gift or make an assembly line of workers. Then race to wrap!

Word Find

Using Christmas words—Christmas, Poinsettia, Candy cane, etc.—have each person make as many smaller words from it as possible before the timer runs out.

 Christmas Carol Charades

Get dramatic! You can’t beat this crowd pleaser, as it is sure to bring the laughs.

Snowman wrapping contest

Wrap a person as a snowman in toilet paper and decorate. First or best one wins.

I found all these games on an amazing website, there are so many to choose from but these where my particular favourites! you can find them all here

I hope you enjoyed this quick little read, if you take part in any of these games let me know and if you have any pictures of the human snowmen I would absolutely love to see them!

Holiday Diary 2017 Part Two

Here is part two of my holiday diary, if you haven’t already make sure you have a little read of part one to help you get up to speed with whats been going on. Long story short me and Liam went away for a winter woodland break and I wanted to share our adventures with you, If you wanted to be nosy and have a look at our accommodation click the link here and it will take you to our cabin tour. Tomorrow at 11am I will be uploading my holiday look book so if that your cup of tea set your alarms for that. Righty That should be you all caught up with whats going on, here goes….

Day Four

After all the excitement from yesterday we both decided we wanted another chill out relaxing at the lodge, Especially as this was our last day, Time had gone so quicklyIMG_3625 but I started to miss our flat back home. In the morning Liam went to the gym and I went swimming, it was lovely to spend a little bit of time apart I loved having the space to clear my mind of everything and just focus on me at the moment in time. I was the only one in the pool at it was amazing. I spent some time thinking about my blog IMG_3643plans for the future and took some time to just breath and be in my own space.

After my swim I felt refreshed and excited to see Liam. We then as planned spent the afternoon and evening dancing round the cabin to top 40 countdowns, reading books, laughing and watching rubbish TV. As much as I love busy days visiting places, days like these are my favorite. In the cabin we was in our own little bubble where nothing else mattered and we didn’t have to think of any one else. I loved it and that’s something I want to recreate more.

20171116_18233320171116_185825We ended the day by having one last meal in the restaurant. We both decided to go for the gammon steak a choice neither of us regretted it was by far the best gammon steak we had ever eaten. finished with ice cream sundaes. we were full and ready to head back to the cabin to pack our bags and have one final dip in the hot tub.

Day Five

IMG_3673Our last morning in the cabin and it was an early one! I was tired before all the traveling had begun and worst of all. I cam on my shitting period haha! I was grumpy and stroppy. I felt sorry for Liam I was like a dragon that was ready to explode. Things were not looking good for our day of travelling. However I put on my big girl knickers (Literally) sucked it up and wore a smile on my face, lets do this. We got are suitcases together our big coats on and we said goodbye to oak cabin two, although sad I was looking forward to getting into my own bed in my own space. even more so now I was cramping like a 20171117_110732good`un. We headed back into Cromer and had a wonder around Morrison’s and had a huge lunch, Liam went all out with a breakfast and I had a scrumptious macaroni cheese. we had some time to kill before our train so we stayed in the café and I did some blog planning, while Liam made use of the IMG_3677customer free WiFi. Our journey home was nice and easy, no trains delayed and everything was plain sailing, exactly how I like it. At around 4pm we opened the door to our home for a cup of hot earl grey tea.

So thats the end of our holiday, I hope you have enjoyed having a look at what we got up to? I would to hear about any holidays you have been on recently! let me know. Don`t forget that tomorrow will be a holiday look book for you to have a look at.
